Native Plant Nursery Manager
Putah Creek Council protects and enhances Putah Creek, its watershed, and tributaries through advocacy, education and community-based stewardship. We envision Putah Creek as a thriving corridor of native riparian and aquatic ecosystems connecting the Coast Ranges to the Sacramento River and the Delta. We envision a Putah Creek watershed community of people who value their creek and are committed to its stewardship.
PCC is seeking a Native Plant Nursery Manager to spearhead the Putah Creek Nursery and its efforts for community engagement and education surrounding the cultivation of California native plants for restoration throughout the Putah Creek Watershed. The Putah Creek Nursery is located on a beautiful 75-acre ranch in the foothills below Lake Berryessa and along scenic Putah Creek. Prior to our acquisition, it was a full-scale commercial nursery, and now as a Native Plant Nursery, this space is looking for someone with a vision. As Nursery Manager, the ideal candidate would have a passion for community based stewardship and a strong background in nursery operations, horticulture (or a similar field), and California native plants. In this role, you will be responsible for all managerial functions including hiring and training of staff and volunteers, ordering stock, collecting seeds, marketing, managing accounts, and responding to customer inquiries. You will also be required to grow and maintain native trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses. You will report directly to the Executive Director.
This full time position has a salary range of $45,000-$65,000 with benefits including employee sponsored healthcare and a retirement match.
