The Putah Creek River Parkways project narrowed the low-flow channel along about 1 mile of creek. The project cut fill from steep banks, and moved it into a form such that the creek now has a walkable riparian area, and improved wildlife habitat.
This project, led by the Lower Putah Creek Coordinating Committee, happened over a six year period from August 2011 to September 2018.
Now, Putah Creek Council works alongside the City of Winters and the Solano County Water Agency to manage the park to promote biodiversity, control invasive weeds, and install California native plants–all with the help of volunteers!
